Alivu solu, the lone olive tree
High above the Valinco, two granite shepherds’ houses for two, on either side of the olive tree that gave the estate its name.
It stood here long before the bergeries. Shepherds rested in its shade; we set a granite bench at its foot.

8 am
A basket at the door. Bread still warm, fresh brocciu, maquis honey: the smell reaches the terrace before you do.
1 pm
Outside, the cicadas. Inside, the granite vault keeps the cool. A few lengths of the pool, a book in the shade, a nap under the vault.
7 pm
The sun sinks over the gulf and the light skims the stone. The boats head back to harbour. On the terrace, a well-earned aperitif.
11 pm
The maquis still smells of the day’s heat. Above the olive tree, the Milky Way.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests per bergerie?
Two. Each bergerie has one bedroom with a 180 cm bed. A baby cot can be added on request.
Are the pools heated?
Yes, from April to October. Each bergerie has its own pool, shared with no one.
What is the minimum stay?
Three nights, and seven nights in July and August, Saturday to Saturday.
Do I need a car?
Yes. The estate lies at the end of a track through the maquis; the beaches, villages and restaurants of the gulf are 15 to 25 minutes away.
Which airport should I fly to?
Ajaccio or Figari, about an hour’s drive away. Ferries also link Marseille with Propriano and Ajaccio.
Are pets welcome?
Yes, one calm pet, on request when you book.
How does arrival work?
From 4 pm. We meet you at the gate and walk you to your bergerie. Departure is before 10 am.
Can we hire the boat?
Yes. Alivu, the estate’s day boat, can be booked by the day or the half-day, with our skipper, or without one if you hold a coastal licence. It is moored at Propriano, fifteen minutes away.
What is there to do nearby?
The coves of the gulf, Campomoro, Filitosa, Sartène and its markets, the Mare e Monti Sud on foot, diving, the hot springs at Baracci. Ajaccio is an hour away, Bonifacio an hour and a quarter.
